This fall, the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program (RTIP) hosted its 48th annual Global Symposium on Racing, the world's largest racing conference where top industry professionals in the Thoroughbred, quarter horse and standardbred industries gather to discuss racing's challenges and opportunities.

The conference covered a wide-range of topics, including advancing equine safety through technology, life after the track and second careers for equine athletes, and racing’s global footprint.

RTIP students played an important role at the symposium and gained a unique opportunity to meet and interact with many of the industry’s best known and respected leaders.

For nearly 50 years, UArizona’s program has served as a springboard to successful careers, with graduates having gone onto leadership positions on both the management and equine side of the industry. UArizona's RTIP is the first program of its kind, offering a bachelor's degree centered on the racing industry.

CALES alumni also took the opportunity during the symposium week to gather at the historic Mountain Oyster Club and reminisce on their time in the RTIP.
